Gia feels privileged to be part of the Slifka staff. She worked with Slifka through a marketing agency as a project manager and copywriter from Summer 2022 to Spring 2023 and later as independent communications consultant. She started full-time as Communications Manager in March 2024.
Gia is a storyteller through and through.
Born and raised in Boca Raton, Florida, she was immersed in Jewish culture, rich in celebrations of Jewish holidays with friends, but also struck by hard truths with an extensive Holocaust education in middle school and high school. At a young age, she felt called to help in the fight against antisemitism, by telling stories of the past and present to help inspire a better future.
After graduating with a journalism degree from the University of Central Florida, she found different ways to hone her craft. She moved to New York City and interned at Refinery29, became a motivational speaker for middle schoolers and high schoolers across all five boroughs, and joined her previous agency where she worked with several Jewish non-profits, including Friends of the Israeli Defense Forces (FIDF), Americans for Ben-Gurion University (A4BGU), and Moishe House.
Gia missed being in an academic environment, and she is thankful for the opportunity to tell stories here at Yale. She is committed to connecting the Jewish Yale community and promoting Slifka’s incredible work and the inspiring people behind it.
Another storytelling side of Gia is that she is an actress and podcaster. Gia performs regularly in the the top-grossing comedy show Bragging Rights at the People’s Improv Theater (PIT) in Manhattan with special shows Off-Broadway, in Los Angeles, and the Hackensack Performing Arts Center.
With her boyfriend, she co-produces and co-hosts Silhouettes JB Podcast, a Broadway podcast dedicated to Jersey Boys, the Tony Award-winning Best Musical Jersey Boys and Warner Bros film directed by Clint Eastwood. They’ve interviewed several Tony Award winners and nominees.
