We are grateful to the Sanders family for supporting the annual Miriam Hasson z”l Sephardic Shabbat.

This year, the Second Annual Miriam Hasson z”l Sephardi Shabbat will take place on Friday, March 28-Saturday March 29. This year’s event will feature the Jewish community of Bulgaria. Shabbat dinner in Slifka’s Kikar Schusterman will feature a Bulgarian menu. Following dinner, there will be a talk by a professor who specializes in the history of Sephardic Jews in Bulgaria, as well as additional commentary by a former ambassador to Bulgaria. Stay tuned to this page for more information as it is announced.

The First Annual Miriam Hasson z”l Sephardic Shabbat featured the culture and cuisine of the Jews of Thessalonika and presentations by Scholar In Residence Professor Devin Naar, Associate Professor of History and Chair of the Sephardic Studies Program at University of Washington
