Role Overview Joseph Slifka Center for Jewish Life at Yale (Yale Hillel) is seeking a Development Coordinator to play a key planning role in a 3-person department which is tasked with raising funds to support the operations of Slifka Center. Reporting to the Director of Development, this professional will have three categories of responsibility: 1) maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the department’s constituent management system (Raiser’s Edge) and online services platform (NetCommunity) and using this data to support fundraising efforts; and 2) coordinating tasks and timelines in the department’s annual project calendar, including serving as project manager for large scale print and email communications; 3) staffing occasional fundraising events. The Development Coordinator will work remotely until at least November 2021, and then work in a renovated Slifka Center in New Haven, CT.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Take primary responsibility for the development database, Raiser’s Edge NXT, and proactively recommend and implement solutions to ensure data integrity. Promote best practices in database management, using online Blackbaud resources, by ensuring constituent information, gift information, and notes are accurate.
  • Manage the information flow into and out of the database, both globally and manually, including gift entry, adding constituent records, reconciliation with finance department, importing updated addresses, etc.
  • Produce development reports, including weekly summary reports, bi-weekly progress reports, bi-monthly reports for Board of Directors, monthly lapsed-donor reports, in addition to ad hoc reports summarizing giving status, affiliation and other data points and trends.
  • Manage the process of timely, accurate and personal gift acknowledgements so that thank you letters conform to the style and voice of the sender. Keep track of outstanding letters and remind staff as appropriate.
  • Build queries and produce lists for fundraising appeals and events, checking accuracy at different points throughout the process.
  • Work with Director of Development to create, maintain and update annual development calendar including fundraising appeals, events, online salons, cultivation, and stewardship activities to keep staff on track.
  • Coordinate large-scale print and email communications by using Raiser’s Edge NXT, working with outside vendors including printers, Yale agencies and Hillel International as appropriate to ensure the highest accuracy possible along in agreed-upon timelines.
  • Attend and participate in internal and external meetings as appropriate

 

What You’ve Accomplished

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus two years’ work experience with database management
  • Experience, skill and interest working with relational fundraising databases including queries and report writing.
  • Ability to use your knowledge about other relational databases to master Raiser’s Edge NXT and NetCommunity using online resources
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and implement projects, and the ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including advanced skills with databases, internet applications, and Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience with, and interest in, working in a fast-paced team-driven environment.
  • Development experience with a desire to learn and grow. University and/or higher education fundraising experience and knowledge of the Jewish community a plus.

What You’ll Receive

Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace – compensation commensurate with experience. The salary range for this role is $45,000 to $55,000.

Slifka Center is an independent non-profit and the hub of Jewish life at Yale, housed in a 19,000 square foot building that features a kosher dining hall and is located in the heart of campus.
